Investigation – Denso International, Ford Motor Co., Honda, Mazda, Subaru, Toyota, Mitsubishi
Wolf Haldenstein is investigating claims on behalf of purchasers and lessees of Ford, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Subaru, and Toyota automobiles equipped with Denso low pressure fuel pumps. On April 27, 2020, Denso International America, Inc. submitted a recall report with NHTSA regarding a defect in certain of its low pressure fuel pumps produced between September 1, 2017 and October 6, 2018 and impacting a vehicle population in excess of 2 million cars. The recall report states that the impeller in some of Denso’s low pressure fuel pumps “may become deformed under certain conditions which could render the fuel pump inoperable.” It further states that : “If an impeller deforms to a point that creates sufficient interference with the fuel pump body, the fuel pump becomes inoperative. According to vehicle manufacturer’s system evaluation, an inoperative fuel pump may result in the illumination of the check engine light and/or master warning indicators, rough engine running, engine no start and/or vehicle stall while driving at low speed and, in rare instances, a vehicle stall could occur while driving at higher speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.” Prior to Denso issuing the recall, Toyota recalled in excess of 1.8 million 2013-19 model year vehicles, and Subaru recalled almost 200,000 2019 model year vehicles, for the same defect in Denso low pressure fuel pumps.
If you purchased or leased a Ford, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Subaru, or Toyota vehicle (model years 2013-19) equipped with Denso low pressure fuel pump, and have experienced the illumination of the check engine light and/or master warning indicators, rough engine running, engine no start and/or vehicle stall, your vehicle may suffer from the same defect.
