Gustavo Bruckner, Of Counsel to the firm, offers considerable experience in the areas of derivative, securities and M&A litigation.
He sits on the firm’s technology committee and helps run the case development department, which involves working with clients, initiating suits, litigation strategy, and lead plaintiff issues.
Mr. Bruckner served as Secretary to the Plaintiffs Executive Committee and worked extensively on drafting and discovery in In re Initial Public Offering Securities Litigation, arguably the largest coordinated securities litigation ever, involving more than 300 class actions alleging manipulation of the market for IPO stocks. Most recently, on behalf of the firm, he was co-lead counsel in the Hearst-Argyle Television, Inc. litigation which resulted in an over $8.7 million aggregate increase in the consideration to the settlement class. He has also been actively involved in class actions against The Black & Decker Corporation related to its merger with The Stanley Works, and Chattem, Inc., related to its merger with Sanofi-Aventis, S.A.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Bruckner served as Chief-of-Staff to a New York City legislator. He is licensed to practice in New York and New Jersey and has been admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Bruckner also serves as an arbitrator in the Civil Court of the City of New York.
Mr. Bruckner received his law degree from Yeshiva University’s Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1992, where he served as an editor of the Moot Court Board. He obtained an undergraduate degree in Marketing and International Business with honors from New York University in 1988 and an MBA in Finance and International Business from New York University’s Stern School of Business in 1989.
